Second Wind Consultants has always believed that business recovery is personal. Behind every distressed company is a person—a founder, an operator, a builder—who deserves a real shot at a second chance. That belief is what draws us to support events and organizations that share our commitment to people over profit.
This spring, we’re honored to serve as a donor sponsor of the Turnaround Management Association Southern California Chapter’s 2026 Night of Excellence—a standout evening in the turnaround and restructuring calendar that raises funds for a cause close to many of us: City of Hope.

Thursday, April 30, 2026 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (PST) Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel 11461 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049
The Night of Excellence is TMA SoCal’s signature annual gathering—a sophisticated evening of premium tastings, curated food, live music and substantive professional connection among the region’s bankruptcy, reorganization and capital recovery community.
It’s the kind of room where real relationships are built, and important conversations happen.
The Cause Behind the Evening
All fundraising efforts for the night benefit City of Hope, a world-renowned cancer research and treatment institution with more than a century of breakthroughs behind it.
City of Hope is not your average hospital. It’s one of only a handful of institutions in the United States designated as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute—a distinction reserved for organizations demonstrating exceptional depth in research, clinical care and community outreach. Their scientists and physicians have played foundational roles in developing treatments like Herceptin for breast cancer and the first FDA-approved synthetic human insulin. Today, they continue to push the boundaries of immunotherapy, stem cell transplantation and precision oncology.
But what makes City of Hope singular isn’t just the science. It’s the integration of research and care—the belief that patients shouldn’t have to wait decades for breakthrough treatments to reach them. They treat urgency as a core value.
TMA SoCal has supported City of Hope through the Night of Excellence for years, gathering the industry at venues across Los Angeles to combine meaningful professional development with genuine philanthropy. The 2026 edition at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel carries that tradition forward.
Why Second Wind Consultants Is Involved
The turnaround industry exists to preserve what’s worth preserving—businesses, livelihoods and futures that might otherwise be written off too soon. City of Hope operates from a remarkably similar conviction. They refuse to accept outcomes that others have stopped fighting against.
We sponsor this event because the values align. And because we believe that professionals who spend their days giving distressed businesses a second wind have every reason to support an institution doing the same for patients.
We look forward to seeing the Southern California turnaround community come together on April 30th.
