The Talk At My Thanksgiving Table
At our Thanksgiving table this year, everyone was talking about the complete breakdown of our government and the inability of the Congressional super committee to settle on the reduction of $1.2 trillion dollars of budget reduction. They could not do it. They admitted defeat and would rather go down in flames than compromise. They were so owned by their special interest groups, their lobbyists and their unions that compromise was impossible.a
How sick, our government has been bought and is totally dysfunctional. It is not working, we need a change of government.
The tone of conversation was one of total disgust, everyone nauseated by the unabashed sellout of our leaders to their supporters, controlled by their greed. The good news is the public sees this for what it is and will change the leadership. The revolution will occur at the ballot box, I believe this.
Leaders will emerge, leaders who are honest and not bought by lobbyists, leaders who care about what is in the best interest of the country. That is what was talked about at my Thanksgiving table.
Why am I talking about this in this blog? Because it is clear what we as small business leaders can learn from this. If we lose our path, forget our context and sell out to lesser ideals, we will fail. Our job is to hold the context and raise the bar. The rest will follow and our managers will implement these ideals.
In the small business world, the revolution will occur in the company checkbook, win or lose. Hold the context and do not sell out. This is the lesson.
