Our Strategies Were Inspected And We Passed With Flying Colors

After a consultation with a prospective client, I frequently have further conversations with their lawyer, accountant, financial adviser, etc. The prospective client typically relies heavily on such support and trusts his professional team to help him make the right decision. He needs confirmation to go forward that our plan makes sense and that it passes all the challenges the lawyers and accountants can conjure up.

I appreciate this need for deeper inspection by professionals on behalf of their client and I welcome the discussion. Actually, I enjoy them as I know how well prepared I am and how spot on our strategies are. I trust this even under the deepest inspection by tough lawyers and accountants whose objective is to punch holes in our strategies and find the cracks in our armor. After all, we seem too good to be true.

Recently, after delivering a consultation to a valuable business headed for disaster with a few million in revenue and a few million in debt, the prospective client asked me to defend my strategies to his lawyer and accountant who had read my materials and were prepared to inspect me thoroughly. What an inspection it was. I felt as though it was the Super Bowl of all inspections. This lawyer and accountant were extremely sharp and very prepared and they challenged me as thoroughly and specifically as has ever been done in memory. I fielded challenges on the legality and structure of what I was proposing as well as the financial and tax aspects as well. It was an intense, challenging and extremely detailed analysis.

In the end – one and a half hours later – I had answered and responded and explained exactly what we were proposing for this man and the exceptional results that my proposal would yield and they had exhausted their questions and challenges. They ended our discussion with the following comments:

“You are an exceptional man, with clarity and focus, unhindered by ego and self-servicing objectives and are clearly interested in what serves your clients most efficiently and effectively. This is an incredibly well thought out plan, based on a deep understanding of many disciplines including the SBA and the banking systems, and clearly you have the expertise and experience to back up what your strategies support and your claims and projections.”

“I will encourage my client to pursue a relationship with you and your company. We are satisfied that you will deliver the results.”

There you have it. I was challenged by the dream team and passed with flying colors!
