Unsecured Vendor Debt Is The Problem For Many

Many small business owners manage to somehow scrape the cash together to support their secured debt: bank loans, leases, etc. This is the debt collateralized with all the business assets and personal guaranties. This is typically the highest priority, along with payroll. Frequently, unsecured vendors get slighted to make room for payment to the secured lenders. This happens often. When there are not enough dollars to go around, the small business owner must juggle and pay what seems most necessary, or most damaging if not paid. This makes sense in a tough financial squeeze.

Unfortunately, at some point in time, your preferred vendors cease working with you and you move onto other vendors providing similar goods and services. Again, not what you want to do but it’s frequently done as what choice do you have when survival is the issue? So, then, the unsecured vendor bills get huge and there really is little opportunity to work this out as the dollars are required elsewhere and new vendors are replacing older vendors… so what’s the point. The hole gets too big to fill.

The demands for cash from these vendors are huge as they want their invoices paid. Eventually the lawsuits line up and your time is spent more on the phone dealing with these issues than paying attention to your business needs. There are typically many vendors and thus, many calls and many problems.
