Union Greed Is Out Of Control
Enough, I can stand no more of this selfish, all-for-me attitude! The greed is totally destructive and it must end. I am outraged.
The unions are misusing their power by buying the politicians with their block of votes and then using their power to negotiate unreasonable contracts that cannot be satisfied without continuously raising taxes beyond a community’s ability to pay. Soon, this will be the direct cause of many cities filing for bankruptcy. It is causing cities and their residents all over the country to go broke. The cities cannot possibly satisfy what the bought politicians have committed to. The resulting pensions and insurance obligations are grossly underfunded and the unions are constantly demanding that the politicians raise taxes to pay them. This is unsustainable and it must stop.
Then, they resort to fear mongering, screaming that the streets will not be safe if the public does not pay the impossible bill. All for them, let the public be damned. As if this isn’t repulsive enough, further demonstrating their greed when confronted with the choice of either accepting small concessions or losing jobs, the unions would rather sacrifice their own men, their families and jobs, rather than give back one single penny, once again demanding that the public pay through increased taxes. Greed controls.
They have gone over the edge. In the recent Northeast snow storm, for reasons that first seemed elusive, New York City remained snarled and shutdown for days beyond what should be the norm because the snow plowing just did not get done. Certainly, New York has had major storms before and they had ample warning to be prepared for this storm but for unimaginable reasons the city was not. When investigated, because of citizen outrage, some honest men stepped forward and spoke the truth, that their supervisors instructed them to slow down and not plow to get back at Mayor Bloomberg. The resulting shutdown of the city cost an estimated one billion dollars in lost revenue, not to mention the enormous interference in people’s lives because of this protest to make Mayor Bloomberg look bad because he had reduced the union’s budget and rolled back some hiring. Really, to punish the mayor they slowed down on the job.
Two people died because the emergency vehicles could not navigate the unplowed streets–an inevitable –but the unions did not care. They needed their budgets satisfied and their unreasonable benefits funded. To hell with the people, let them die. I have had enough. Two dead because of this greed? A baby and an older person. There should be criminal action taken and the union leaders should spend their lives in jail–that’s what they deserve–and the public must find the strength to eliminate them. They no longer serve a purpose, they are out of control and need to be stopped. The politicians must stop selling out for their votes. It must be stat3d clearly that this allegation has not bee proven and no criminal charges have been filed and this may not be true, I am merely reporting what I have read in the newspapers, however if the shoe fits….
So, what can we all learn from this? What we already know: greed corrupts and must be rooted out wherever it thrives. Even in business, excessive greed will kill you. We are all part of the same community and we must act for the good of the whole.
