Welcome To The Entrepreneurs’ Club Of Terror.

Yes, you are an entrepreneur. A small business owner that dared to launch his dream, start a business, take the plunge and risk everything.

Welcome! You are a charter member of the Entrepreneurs’ Club of Terror. You all know what I am talking about.

1. The lonely experience of staking claim to a mission that only exists in your mind.

2. The daring commitment to look for and ask for funding.

3. Spending others’ capital and your own savings, making a very large, very high-risk bet.

4. Knowing others are betting heavily on your success and depending on it as well.

5. A willingness to sacrifice yourself for the benefit of the venture.

Of course, once launched, your sleepless nights also include:

1. Keeping to your budget.

2. Making payroll.

3. Hitting projections.

4. Creating revenue.

5. Building an organization.

4. Overcoming the unknown.

5. Running out of money.

6. Missed projections.

7. Inability to support the big order.

Terror is a state where the small business owner  frequently visits and as he  is frequently tested. There are no back doors, no escape hatch, no options, no control. You just white-knuckle your way through the ride, hanging on for dear life and going with your gut instinct… that’s terror. Jumping off a cliff and figuring out how to land on the way down… that’s terror.  Not knowing where your next dollar or order is coming from if at all, that’s terror, not knowing if you will make payroll this week, that’s terror. That’s what an entrepreneur confronts daily.

You dared to open and run a small business, you are a charter member. Welcome to the Entrepreneurs’ Club of Terror.

What to do about it? Toughen up, you asked for it you are an entrepreneur. The rewards are worth the pain.
