Before debt relief and after debt relief… your transformation….

We at Second Wind often find ourselves working with business owners who, although at one time completely independent and self-sufficient, feel defeated, beaten into submission, lost,  they can no longer help themselves. While we’re happy to be their guide to success,  part of what makes a truly successful relationship is the recovery of the client’s fighting spirit.

I recently had the opportunity to work with Suzie Q., who’d lost her business to an insurmountable amount of debt and a staggering economy. After completing her debt workout, Suzie is now an operating partner in a new business, but to be successful, she needed to reestablish connections with vendors the previous firm worked with; under a new company and with no intent to account for the (now) non-operational business debt.

Going in, Suzie had a list of concerns, but we pushed through. I walked her through role-playing and let her listen in on the first few calls. Keeping a very simple approach, and after less than an hour of coaching, Suzie made her first attempt to reestablish a working relationship.

Between the beginning of the call and 90 seconds later I saw two different Suzie’s. Before the first call ended, Suzie was laughing. She became confident she could recoup her relationships and move forward. She threw away her concerns for a business that no longer exists, for debts she is not able or obligated to pay, and put the rubber to the pavement, transforming in front of me from someone who needed consolation and comforting to a fearless go-getter who needed no introduction.

Suzie is, and will continue to be, one our great success stories – she has survived any business person’s worst nightmare, insurmountable debt in the face of declining revenues and increasing overhead, an impossible combination. We performed the debt forgiveness strategies, and now she has  a new chance at success and is moving forward with a great attitude to accompany the lessons she’s learned. Whatever business she makes her own over the next period of her life will undoubtedly be successful, she has made the transition safely and soundly.
