Passion, Good or Bad?
Most small business owners get into business for themselves because they have a passion for something. Whether you are a personal trainer or a stock car racer, if you run your own business you need to have an interest in what it does.
To be a successful business owner you must be emotional in the fact that you need to be driven toward the success of your business. You should be thinking about ways to improve it all the time. The most successful business owners are the type of people who will talk to anyone about what they do and you can tell they truly love their company. These people, however, have the hardest time during a workout.
To accomplish a workout you need to think completely logically, not emotionally. We understand this is your baby, but it has gangrene. If cutting off the arm will save the child then you don’t take a month to decide as the infection eats away the child, you cut away the section already lost and you preserve what you can. Just like an infection, getting to the treatment as soon as possible will give the highest chance of success, and also just like a medical procedure, you do not take care of the issue yourself.
So is passion a good or bad thing? Like most questions, especially where emotions are involved, there are many possible answers. Passion is good when you are running a business, but it is bad when you are fixing a business. If you hire a professional, use that judgment. You would not hire someone who you feel knows less than you.
