Female Business Owners, Call Me For Help!

“Women-owned businesses are privately held firms in which women own 51 percent or more of the firm. The U.S. Census Bureau’s latest Survey of Women-Owned Business Enterprises (SWOBE) reported that women owned 5,417,034 U.S. non-farm businesses in 1997. Women-owned businesses made up 26.0 percent of the nation’s 20.8 million non-farm businesses, employed 7.1 million paid workers, and generated $818.7 billion in sales and receipts.” (U.S. Dept. of Labor: www.dol.gov/wb/)

Yes, men, there are many competent, exciting, dynamic small business-owning women, millions to be more precise, and these stats are ten years old!

Currently, I am consulting with many women business owners. Many. It is clear every day that more and more women are opening businesses and while many are operating effectively and successfully, many are also in trouble just as is the case with male small business owners, and they have called me for help. I have found that female business owners are driven by the same forces as their counterpart male business owners. They work just as hard, are just as dedicated and as focused as any male business owner I have ever met. There may still be a glass ceiling preventing women from reaching the highest levels of Corporate America, but there are no barriers preventing women from exercising their rights to open and run a small business.

Of course, there is an abundance of SBA guaranteed loans that are given to small business owners both male and female. Therefore, I fight for female business owners’ rights and opportunities, shoulder-to-shoulder with them, as they also deserve the same opportunity that I provide to male business owners–both confront the same issues and challenges and are both entitled to the same relief.

Just as every male business owner is a unique personality, women are no different. Each woman is an individual to be supported in their effort to operate small businesses. Thus there is no male/female small business owner generalities to exclaim. I applaud every small business owner’s brave effort and fearless commitment, whether they be male or female. This is not about women acting like men, it is about women acting like dedicated small business owners and that is the point.

Call me for help – female or male – the only requirements are that you own and operate a small business and need and want help. I will be there.
