Three Rules For Successful Marketing
I frequently review other business blogs to learn and see what other “experts” are talking about. I came across a great video that provided some simple but excellent advice about how to make certain you’re marketing effectively and “guaranteeing” that if you follow this simple path your sales will increase dramatically. Sounds good and makes sense, so why not do it?
I found this video on Ben Means Business blog, referencing Frank Kern’s site. (http://frankkern.com/) Frank claims a personal relationship with John Carlton, a current marketing guru responsible for many huge marketing successes. The following information is a synopsis.
The three rules that Carlton says will assure you greater success:
1. Tell them what you got. Simple, straightforward, direct.
2. Tell them what it will do for them. Simple, straightforward, direct.
3. Tell them what you want them to do. Specifically, simply, straightforward, direct.
Talk in few words, keep it simple and tell them point blank what your message is. This works. Try it.
Simple, straightforward, impactful, memorable, direct, a call to action, and with clarity as to what your selling and why they should buy it and what they should do next. With all the wordy cleverness and hard sell approaches, typically with way too much information and clever selling tricks, hype, testimonials, giveaways, come-ons and marketing gimmicks we all love to employ, this sounds like a breath of fresh air. It’s a return to basics, a reminder that the sales process need not be magical, mystical, unique, clever, overbearing, complicated, etc. It can be simple, direct and focused.
If you must expand your message to fit your needs, these three points can still be included. It’s a guideline and it makes sense. Keep it in mind.
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
