Indecision Is The Worst Decision Of All

Indecision. I see it all too frequently. The business owner is unsure of what to do in regard to a particular issue so he freezes up like the proverbial deer in the headlights of an oncoming truck. Any move would probably save the deer’s life but it makes no move at all and thus perishes while frozen in indecision. How many times does the business man fall into this trap? Many times, way too often, and the end result may be as devastating as it is for the deer.

Some thoughts:

The right decision is, of course, the best possible decision.

The wrong decision is second-best, believe it!

The worst decision of all is no decision.

Consider how much thought and consideration is put into all your decisions. Lots!  How wrong could an any decision be? Could it truly be a wrong decision or just an alternative option, a variation of the right decision? Even a completely “wrong” decision probably has some merit or it would never have been considered, so how bad could it be?

The enemy is indecision, as that leaves you with the status quo, the situation you currently have. Since this situation is a problem requiring a decision to resolve it, no decision at all simply allows the problem to fester and develop, continuing as a “must change” situation and allowed to remain in control while a new direction is contemplated but not implemented. Therefore, indecision is the worst decision of all. So, have confidence, dig in and make the decision you need to make. Whatever it is, it is far better then no decision at all.

The conclusion is obvious: to be successful we must be decisive and implement with confidence and focus. Damn the torpedoes, forge full speed ahead.
